Red Moon on iTunes?
Has anyone bought The Red Moon EP on iTunes? I just did, and am listening now... I didn't even know it existed but searched for TB for grins.
If you don't have it, you should get it! It's only $3.50 (at the US store, obviously), and well worth it! Current Mood: happy

This place is DEAD man! Anyhoo anyone seen this new pic of the boys?
This is from their website:The guys were asked to be photographed with something they considered to be their inspiration; they chose a desert highway, saying: " Our music (especially in its embryonic era) often feels like it comes from this mysterious place - somewhere in America? The same place where moments in movies occur, a non place, hopeful yet melancholic, reflective yet full of endless potential for the future".

Hello hello hello! I've been a fan of Turin Brakes since I first heard their single Mind Over Money and on Nov 2nd I got to see them live in Leeds! It seems eons ago now but I just found this comm so I thought I'd post a little of what I thought. This is what I posted at the time in my journal...Oh my God I just got back from the Turin Brakes gig and they were amazing... and dare I say it I had a better experience than when I saw Morrissey (which was fabulous so hopefully that gives you an idea of how good TB were!). They are just much better suited to live gigs, and they really showed off what skilled guitarists they are. However they had the advantage of it being a smaller crowd, and when I saw Morrissey it was a massive crowd, which made it less personal. The crowd went mental and so TB gave two encores! Olly's voice was on top form, it really is distinctive, and Gale's guitar playing was commented on by the crowd a lot. He got a huge cheer after every guitar solo :) And they look even better in real life too!
At one point in the gig I totally zoned out listening to the music, so I was staring in mid-air like an idiot and then the guy next to me goes "Was he looking at you?". By 'he' he meant Olly and apparently he was looking straight at me and I didn't even notice! Hopefully he saw how blissed-out I was and didn't take it for boredom!
As I said the audience was great and very kind. I'm only 5 foot tall so when I go to gigs I always end up behind some 8 foot guy, and am usually stuck there unless I try to barge my way through! However my not-very-subtle friend Sophie usually gets me through. But this time some random guy made a space for me which was lovely. I enjoyed myself so much I only remembered to take one pic. Who knows when it will see the light of day coz it was taken on a ye olde camera.
I should make some TB icons. The ones posted before don't show up anymore.
P.S. I adore all the little videos on TB's website, they're hilarious!

Well, I'm not even sure if anyone even reads this community anymore, but... the "Over And Over" video is up at the-raft.com if you haven't seen it yet. :)

Well, I only just now found out that JackInABox won't be released in the US until June 7, which is extremely disappointing.
So, does anyone know if the limited edition will be available in the US? (or on itunes) I certainly hope so- it looks interesting. Current Mood: disappointed

Mind Over Water!
"Turin Brakes will be playing a very special acoustic show as part of this event, highlighting Africa before the G8 summit..
Every pod on the London Eye will be occupied by a different artist – either musician, comedian, performance artist... when you buy your ticket there is no way to guarantee exactly who you will see as pods are allocated on a random basis, so you can’t guarantee that you will see Turin Brakes... but it’s an amazing event in its own right, and a fantastic opportunity to experience an intimate performance in a unique location."
Check it out on the Brakes site, really cool that the guys are involved in this, don't ya think?
You can pre-order JackInABox online at amazon, and they have this up. I haven't seen it anywhere else, does anyone know if this is the artwork for the album? I like it, at any rate.
Has anyone heard any of the new songs besides "Fishing for a Dream"?

Hi guys, just making my presence known :)
Have seen the boys once at Hammersmith last December, think little brother
might be my favourite track, they did it as the encorey thing and I was obliged to scream like a demented monkey.
Ooh and I am going to Turin this easter, not related but thought I'd mention it.
I'll shut up now. Current Mood: curious

Late Night Tales
Turin Brakes released a new compilation CD this week, well it's not their CD but it is part of an interesting series of CD's.
I have written a short review type thing on my journal : http://www.livejournal.com/users/duracell/251457.html?mode=reply
It's a rather mixed up and refreshing album, was just wondering if anybody else had heard it and what you thought of it and indeed if anyone has heard of other CD's in the series?

About the Ether Song extra tracks...
Don't know if any of you have seen this yet, but for some reason I only just found it today, I may be completely out of the loop (which is likely). Anyway, you can download the new tracks off the new repackage of Ether Song here
|Tuesday, October 7th, 2003|
Doesn't anyone else find it an absolute disgrace that "Ether Song" has been repackaged and re-released for the sake of the new single and a couple of new songs?!
Anyone who loves Turin Brakes would have already gone out and bought the first release of "Ether Song". I just can't understand why they've decided to do this!
Number 31 for the single "5 Mile" wasn't very good too. Mind you, I didn't see any videos on the music channels and there was very little publicity. Current Mood: annoyed
|Saturday, October 4th, 2003|
I just found out Turin Brakes are coming to Australia to play the Falls Festival in December in Victoria and Tasmania, which is exciting, but I'm REALLY hoping they play a few shows up here in Queensland.
I've been dying to see them for years. Current Mood: excited

New TB heard on Xfm!
I heard new Turin Brakes on Xfm last night!
It seems from looking at the website
that they're repackaging Ether Song with a bonus CD of lots of new material in October:
Ether Song Bonus CD
Album repackage 06.10.03!
Ether Song will be repackaged with a bonus CD including many new tracks. The new CD will include the next single 5 Mile (These are the days), The Boss, a Piano Instrumental, Long Distance (Radio 3 Holland), Falling Down (SBN Session) and Painkiller (SBN acoustic version).
I think 5 Mile
is what I heard on the radio last night.
I guess all designed to be in time for the tour -- I've got tickets to see them at the Hammersmith Apollo at the start of December -- but it's annoying that they're making fans buy yet another copy of the album!
The single's out on 29th September.
